The King and I & Tastes of Omaha

January 16-17, 2018

Two worlds collide in this classic musical directed by Bartlett Sher (South Pacific).  The year is 1862, and British schoolteacher Anna Leonowens has arrived in Siam to instruct the royal children.  But despite her sharp wit and strong will, nothing has prepared Anna for the lessons this rich and complicated new land has to teach her—or for the powerful connection she will forget with its imperious King.  THE KING AND I boasts a score that features such beloved classics as “Getting To Know You,” “I Whistle a Happy Tune,” “Hello Young Lovers,” “Shall We Dance” and “Something Wonderful”.

Prior to the show we will enjoy a tour and dinner at St. John’s Greek Orthodox Church in Omaha.  We will overnight at the Hampton Inn, located near the Ameritrade Park.  Following breakfast at the Hampton Inn, we will enjoy a demonstration and China tea tasting at the Tea Smith.  Lunch will be an authentic home-cooked meal at the Polish House in Papillion.  We will end our tour at the Baker’s Candy Factory in Greenwood.
